All Real Time Imaging pictures are covered by International Copyright until 75 years after the death of the photographer.
DO YOU NEED COPYRIGHT CLEARANCE?
YES. If you are paying for space in a publication and wish to include a photograph, then you must supply the publisher with a permit to show that the material you are supplying is authorised for that use. For example: Placing a classified advert in a magazine or on the internet.
NO. If you are supplying a photograph to accompany an article which you are not paying to have included, then the publisher of the article is responsible for copyright clearance. Please be sure to give the publisher as much information as you can about the copyright holder.
In the case of the breed societies, we already have agreements in place for them to use our pictures in their editorial sections. Permits are however required for adverts in their publications.
Purchasing a copy of a photograph in no way implies any copyright permissions are also granted. Just as buying a copy of a book does not give you the right to plagiarize its contents.
Following the introduction of the EU Directive (Copyright and Regulated Rights Regulations) in October 2003, a credit must be given to the photographer or copyright holder wherever the picture is reproduced.
Copyright royalties form an important part of a professional photography company's income. Illegal use of photographs is theft and perpetrators will be prosecuted.
To use our pictures for classified advertising whether in print or on the internet, a copyright release fee of £15.00 inc.VAT, per publication, must be paid.
To publish our pictures on a private website the fee is £30.00. (£35.25 inc. VAT) per picture.
To publish our pictures on a commercial website the fee is £50.00. (£58.75 inc. VAT) per picture.
Alternatively, for private individuals, an annual fee of £150.00 (£176.25 inc. VAT) may be paid for the use of any number of images in any publications/web sites for 12 months. NOTE: This must be renewed annually to continue using our pictures.
If payment is made by credit/debit card a fee will be charged.
Upon receipt of payment a copyright waiver permit will be issued. This should be given to the publisher with the picture to show that copyright has been cleared.
The fee covers the copyright clearance only. If you need a digital version of the image sending to the publisher a fee of £15.00 is applicable to cover the preparation and sending of the file.
Any pictures published without this permit will be invoiced for double the amounts stated above. If no picture credit is given either then the fee is doubled again.
All pictures must have a credit to REAL TIME IMAGING by law.
